Spam is the electronic version of junk mail on the Web. Unlike legitimate commercial emails, spam is unsolicited and frequently used for advertising purposes. The following tips can help reduce the amount of spam you receive.
- Avoid using a catch-all email address. If you have a catch-all email address the spammer can send you email without knowing your actual address.
- Do not reply to spam or suspicious emails, this includes read receipts. If you do the spammer will know they have a live address and send more spam to you.
- Be careful about which sites you sign up to, they may give or sell your address to a spammer.
- Setup a Junk mail folder in your email client and create some rules to direct incoming email. Our email server will insert POSSIBLE SPAM, PROBABLE SPAM to an email's subject line it I believes the email may be spam. You can use this flag in your filter to direct the mail to a specific folder.
